Custombike 2008
Biker-Build-Off Championship
A great attraction for the visitors, and a highlight for tv viewers: two custom bikes built live on stage, in front of the audience at the Bad Salzuflen Custombike 2008 show. D-Max, a German tv station, was there.
The competitors at the Live-Build Off were Penz Performance from Austria, and Thunderbike from Germany. Both companies are well known in the scene. Penz has been succesfully building bikes since about a decade, Thunderbike has drawn great attention to itself in recent years, with their radical showbikes, that compete in the upper ranks of the "World Custom Circus". Both competitors are highly professional, and know exactly what to do. In a 20 hour timespan both teams had to build their bikes from an amazing array of parts.
The startshot: Friday 14pm. Both teams were cheerfull, and everything went smoothly. Sunday 14pm things started getting a little hectic, as time got short. Gastanks were filled, the batteries connected. Even now, each bike could easily lose, since the rules require, that each bike is ridden under it's own steam to the main stage. But fortunately both beauties came to life after a little persuasion, so the final decision had to be made by the audience, through the voting.
